If I had to start over from scratch with $0, what would I do to start a business starting today?
Hi, my name is Dan Brock the Deadbeat Super Affiliate™ and CHECK IT OUT…
…we are in Cinque Terra, Italy . Truly a paradise on Earth! Unbelievable.
This is what I would do, what type of business, and so on.
This is where I start when things aren’t going well, with any kind of business for that matter.
First things first, you have to clean yourself up.
If you have zero money, there are probably a few things you aren’t doing right.
We all fall victim to this because your habits have built you up to get you to where you’re at.
You know what those things are, I’m not going to preach what they are.
For me, it’s always been things like drinking, too many naps, squandering my time in various ways…
…but in order to dig yourself out of this, you’re really going to have to clean yourself up.
Clean up your surroundings, the people that you surround yourself with, the things you’re reading and watching.
All this plays a big subconscious role in where you go in life. So it starts with Day 0.
You’re going to have to start rebuilding that muscle-memory from scratch.
So, before you do anything (doesn’t matter what business), if you’re having a dip in productivity or a dip in overall success, start by looking inwards.
The way I look at it is, every successful business is run by a successful person. And every failing business is run by a failing person.
FOCUS ON YOURSELF FIRST.
For me, what that is, right now I’m on vacation simply to keep the mind clear and to expand my thoughts outwards.
That’s why I’m here; just needed a break.
What are your skills? I can’t answer that question for you.
For me, it would be to start a YouTube channel from scratch in some kind of niche market that I was really familiar with.
So what are those for YOU?
Really take a deep look at your current skills. Are you a good writer?
Are you good at creating content?
Are you good at creating products? Are you an engineer?
Take a tally of your current skillset.
That’s your starting point.
Through experience, I’ve learned that you’re better off just picking one market and really honing that in.
A question you might be asking now is, if you’re a beginner: “What is that one market for me?”
Anything to do with a passion, profession, hobby or real problems that people have is always a good starting point.
For me, one of my favorite topics is internet marketing. I’ve just been doing it for so long.
You see me here teaching it to you. It’s just one of the things I’m passionate about that allows me to create that really cool lifestyle.
I get to be out here in such a cool place like Chen Quintero and making money while doing it.
I also have a solid knowledge base in the health space. A lot of times I’ll make money with the health market and also the internet marketing space.
Now, as I get more experience, it’s better just to pick ONE.
That’s really the next step in the process for you. Determine that one market you want to serve.
The way I recommend that you look at this is to ask, what is that thing that you do right now that you can see yourself doing for the next ten years, talking about that particular topic?
If it’s something that you don’t have very passionate feelings about, I recommend you not do it.
Now, with that said…
…you can make a bunch of money from topics that you couldn’t care less about, but it’s an empty pursuit.
It’s up to you where you want to go with that.
At the very least, focus yourself around health, money, and relationships. The Big Three.
You can always make some money with that. Those three niches are the tried-and-true tested markets.
I’m a big fan of Warren Buffett. I like his style of investing, which is called “value-based investing”.
It’s like cutting onions. It’s really hard, boring stuff to read but it’s worth it.
So, no matter where you’re at, at some point you’ll want to reach this point of sustainable wealth and have to master investing.
This can be investing in oil or trees!
I have one friend who has a tree farm as his investment.
He has his internet business as a way to produce cash and he has his tree farm as a way to create that passive income (he outsourced most of that).
There are a million different investment vehicles out there.
It could be apartment rentals, it could be storage facilities, it could be stocks of businesses, internet businesses… the list goes on and on.
Just depends on what you like to do and what clicks for you.
For me, I like investing in various businesses. One business I invest in right now is Berkshire Hathaway – that’s Warren Buffet’s company.
I know a good bit about that business. It’s always good to have that running secondary to your main business.
Whatever business you have, you should still have a way to take that money and funnel it into investment activity.
If you want to live lifestyles like this…
…you need that money to come in and pay for these trips so that you’re not paying for it out of your active-income work.
So never trade active money for small expenditures like these.
This is crucial or else you’ll constantly be digging yourself back out of a hole.
You’ll be driving yourself back into zero, or back into debt (if that’s where you’re at). If you’re at zero dollars right now, that’s basically the blueprint I would take.
As far as creating a business (million ways to do it), YouTube is one of my favorite.
Second one is Amazon FBA.
You can do affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing is also great if you don’t have any budget. You can create content and sell other people’s products!
This way you don’t have to invest any money to create a product.
With that said, if you have a little money, or have a specific skill that you can use to create a product, that may be a better route for you.
This way you get control of your business rather than having to depend on someone else. They can pay you out. They could disappear. All kinds of things that could go wrong with the affiliate side of things.
But you can still make a ton of money that way.
I hope this advice serves as a good starting point for you. If you’ve got any questions for me, just comment below.
By the way, if you haven’t been to Chen Quintero yet (I wish they would pay me affiliate commissions for promoting them!), you gotta check this out.
This should be on everyone’s bucket list. Have you been here? I’ll give you guys the final view…
Time for me to go take a nap. Peace!
